Travel content

Guilin and Yangshuo have captured the imaginations of poets, artists and travelers for centuries. Tourists to the area continue the Chinese love for cultural travel and the national obsession for tracing the footsteps of well cultured sojourners of the past. As well as taking in the key highlights of the Li River and her karst mountains, we also get to some out of the way spots to uncover some hidden gems. Stop for a local home-cooked meal to really get a taste of this captivating part of China which is undoubtedly best seen on two wheels to reach places that coach tours could never get to. Let Guilin and Yangshuo inspire the poet and artist in you and you never know, you may even discover new and hidden talents.

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Arrive Guilin
    • Welcome dinner
    • After dinner, free time to explore the city or stroll along the Guilin river ways
    • Overnight in Guilin
  • Day 2:
    Guilin – Yangshuo
    • Start the day by cruising on the Li River
    • Get off at Xinping Town and explore the little town
    • After lunch, drive to another ancient town to visit a fan-making workshop and local market
    • Transfer to Yangshuo, a paradise for backpacker travellers
    • Free time to explore West Street before dinner at a local café
    • After dinner, watch a private cormorant fishing show on the Li River
    • Overnight in Yangshuo
  • Day 3:
    Yangshuo
    • Learn Chinese Water Painting by the Li River, taught by a local art expert
    • Have lunch at a friend's family house and learn to cook a famous local dish – enjoy local 'beer fish'
    • Ride a bamboo raft along the Yulong River
    • Overnight in Yangshuo
  • Day 4:
    Yangshuo
    • Get up early for a special photo opportunity (optional)
    • Bike between several Yangshuo villages, en route, visit a school and play games with local children
    • Bike to Moon Hill and climb up the 800 steps to the summit for a bird's eye view
    • Free time in West Street
    • Overnight in Yangshuo
  • Day 5:
    Departure
    • Drive to Guilin airport and fly back home
    • End of services
