Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    April 1, 2017 Beijing - Urumqi

    Group assemble at Terminal 3 of Beijing international airport, check-in assisted by TUI China representative

    Flight to Urumqi by CA1295  Beijing– Urumqi 2000- 0010+1

    Meet local guide on arrival, transfer to hotel and check-in

    Overnight in Urumqi

  • Day 2:
    April 2, 2017 Urumqi – Heavenly Lake – Turpan (B, L, D)

    Trip to Heavenly Lake (transfer approx. 2 hours). This pristine lake is situated at a refreshing height of 1,980m and is surrounded by jagged snow-covered peaks, forests of pine trees and green meadows

    Transfer to Turpan, with views of the Gobi Desert and the largest wind power station in Asia on the way

    Arrive in Turpan and check-in at hotel

  • Day 3:
    April 3, 2017 Turpan (B, L, D)

    Visit of Karez Underground Irrigation System after breakfast. These underground channels rate among ancient China’s greatest public works projects, along with the Great Wall and the Grand Canal. The city of Turpan owes its existence to these vital wells and channels, some of which were constructed over 2000 years ago. 

    Visit of Sugong tower, Jiaohe ancient city and Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves

    Visit of the ancient city of Gaochang. This was the capital of Uighurs when they moved into the Xinjiang Region from Mongolia in the 9th century. Gaochang Ancient City became a major staging post on the Silk Road. It was a printing and Buddhist centre during the Tang Dynasty.

  • Day 4:
    April 4, 2017 Urumqi – Beijing (B, L, D)

    Drive back to Urumqi after breakfast

    Visit of the Autonomous Region Museum and Erdaoqiao International Bazaar
