Tibet is known for many reasons, as being the roof of the world as as being one of the world's great holy regions. Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing/Shanghai - Lhasa
    • Flight from Beijing/Shanghai to Lhasa.
    • Arrival in Lhasa, your guide will meet you at the airport or train station upon arrival.
    • Transfer from the airport or train station to Lhasa City.
    • Time to relax and acclimatize to altitude after lunch.
    • Overnight in Lhasa   
  • Day 2:
    Lhasa (B, L)   Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace, Barkhor Street
    • Your amazing tour of Tibet begins at the Jokhang Temple. Built in the 7th century, it is considered the most significant religious structure for all Tibetans. Many pilgrims pay homage to their faith at this sacred temple each day.
    • Afterwards, we will visit what is often recognized as the symbol of Lhasa, the incredible Potala Palace. For many years it was used as the winter residence of the Dalai Lama. The last stop of the day is Barkhor Street. As part of the worshipers' pilgrimage circuit, this area of the Old Town is both the spiritual heart of Lhasa and the main commercial district for Tibetans.

  • Day 3:
    Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Gyantse (B, L) Kumbum, Palkhor Chode, Gyantse Fort
    • After breakfast, we begin our scenic drive to Gyantse, passing by the beautiful Yamdrok Lake. During a stop off in a Tibetan village you will almost certainly be surrounded by curious, laughing children as they come and greet their new guests.
    • Upon our arrival in Gyantse in the afternoon we will visit the monastery, Palkhor Chode, noted for its intricate Kumbum, one of the most important monuments in Tibetan architecture. It is a nine tiered stupa with 108 chapels and superb murals. The Gyantse Fort located high in the mountains offers you a breathtaking view of the city.

  • Day 4:
    Gyantse - Shigatse (B, L)   Tashilhunpo Monastery
    • After breakfast, you will be driven by car to Shigatse, Tibet's second largest city, to visit Tashilhunpo Monastery. The Tashilhunpo Monastery is the ancient residence of the Panchen Lama, the highest ranking Tibetan monk after the Dalai Lama.
    • Afterwards, time is set aside especially so that you can discover and explore the old city center at your own leisurely pace.
    • Overnight in Shigatse
  • Day 5:
    Shigatse - Lhasa (B, L)
    • Today we drive back to Lhasa. Then we will take our last tour to venerable Sera Monastery. This monastery not only served as a place of worship, but also as a house of higher learning. Established in 1419 by the scholar Tsongkhapa, Sera Monastery was considered the most famous academy in Tibet. You will have an opportunity to see the monk's debate there.
