It is an ancient city, one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization and has a history that can be traced back to its settlement by the Aurora Liangzhu civilization, 4700 years ago. Enjoy this authentic, tailor-made itinerary, taking you through all Hangzhou’s hot spots.

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing – Hangzhou (D)
    • In the morning, embark on your journey from Beijing to Hangzhou by high-speed train at Beijing South Railway station
    • Train schedule G31  08:30-13:37
    • Transfer to the hotel and get ready for your first excursion which is rowing on the West Lake.
    • Enjoy the beautiful scenery and revel in the ancient history that embodies West Lake.
    • To ensure that you get the most out of this amazing landmark you can take a stroll along the lake shore and ride a bicycle near the West Lake.
    • Impression West Lake follows in the evening – traditional entertainment of song and dance staged on the West Lake itself.
    • Enjoy dinner and the rest of the evening at leisure.
    • Overnight in Hangzhou
  • Day 2:
    Hangzhou ( B L )
    • Takes you on a boat excursion through Xixi National Wetland Park – an urban wetland and the only one of its kind in China.
    • After lunch, we make our way to Meijiawu Tea Plantation for an educational visit surrounded by green hills and fragrant tea plantations.
    • Sample different teas and embrace Chinese tea culture which dates many centuries back.
    • Enjoy the evening at leisure and explore the city’s nightlife, but be sure to get a good night’s sleep for the early start to your day 3.

  • Day 3:
    Hangzhou ( B L)
    • Your morning kicks off with a 1 hour shadowboxing class (T’ai Chi Ch’uan, Taijiquan) to give your health, stamina and posture a boost.
    • Hiking up Baoshi Mountain will start at Huanglong Cave. Along the route you will get to visit Baopu Taoist Temple, Baoshu Pagoda and Jianbao Villa which all makes for excellent picture-taking. Your hike will end on Beishan Road.
    • The afternoon takes you to Hangzhou’s Southern Song Dynasty Guan Kiln Museum for an intricate look into another rich factor in China’s history.
    • The museum is situated on a rather scenic spot of the West Lake. You will also get the chance to get your hands dirty with a basic lesson in pottery.
    • Hefang Old Street (Qinghefang Street) and Southern Song Imperial Street lie next on your itinerary.
    • Hefang Street promises a charming mix of East Meets West for souvenir shopping, local snack tasting, teahouses, craft shopping and plenty of great opportunities for a look into daily life in Hangzhou.
    • Southern Song Imperial Street stretches over 4.3 kilometers and presents 800 years of history to the public with a combination of six factors “restaurant, accommodation, transport, travel, purchases and entertainment”, which has made this the “No.1 Street with Best Life Quality in China”.
    • Overnight in Hangzhou
  • Day 4:
    Hangzhou - Beijing (B L)
    • Enjoy a good breakfast followed by a boat trip to visit the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal – a communication artery connecting Southern and Northern China. It is the longest and oldest artificial waterway in the world.
    • The boat excursion takes you to Gongchen Bridge which wraps up your trip to the canal.
    • In the afternoon, we will make our way to the Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum for a feast of traditional Chinese arts and crafts.
    • The final stop on your itinerary is Wangxingji Fan factory for a glimpse into the history of fan-making and how to create these ornaments known across the world.
    • From your hotel you will transfer to the train station for your journey back to Beijing.
