Join us in the footsteps of Buddhism and the many monasteries that dot the route to the Tibetan plateau. Along the way, take in the serene beauty of Qinghai and Gansu provinces. Explore the vast beauty of these remote regions and discover a wealth of fascinating religious and cultural heritage!.

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing - Lanzhou - Xia He (Lunch and Dinner)
    • Fly to Lanzhou in early morning.
    • Reference flight info: HU7231 Beijing-Lanzhou 06:40-09:25 (or similar)
    • Transfer to Xia He via Linxia county to see Great mosque.
    • Stop at and stroll around in some local villages on the way
    • Lunch and dinner in local restaurants
    • Arrive in Xia He and transfer to hotel
    • Overnight in Xia He
  • Day 2:
    Xia He (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
    • After breakfast at the hotel, visit the vast Labrang monastery complex in the north of Xia He. Founded in 1709, the monastery is one of the six great monasteries of the Geluk (Yellow Hat) school of Tibetan Buddhism; it is home to the largest number of monks outside of Tibet Autonomous Region and still remains an important place for Buddhist ceremonies and activities.
    • Lunch at local restaurant
    • Discover the Datan Grasslands on an easy hike (2-3hours)
    • Visit local market of minority group
    • Dinner at local restaurant
    • Overnight in Xia He
  • Day 3:
    Xiahe - Tongren (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
    • Breakfast at hotel
    • Transfer to Tongren
    • Sightseeing at Octagonal Fort (built in Han Dynasty) on the way
    • Arrive in Tongren
    • Enjoy the Tangka art and learn how the artists paint
    • Tour at Xiwutu monastery
    • Lunch and Dinner are served at local restaurants
    • Overnight in Tongren
  • Day 4:
    Tongren – Lanzhou - Beijing (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
    • Breakfast at the hotel
    • Visit the Longwu monastery, one of the biggest Tibetan local monasteries and the Buddhist Qutan temple – sometimes "the imperial palace of the northwest", since it’s layout resembles that of the Forbidden City in Beijin
    • Transfer back to Lanzhou airport and fly back to Beijing
