You'll start your journey in energetic Saigon, where grand halls in the French colonial style share the streets with Vietnamese and Chinese pagodas. Markets selling the everyday, the exotic, and the downright bizarre will offer you a look into the lives of Saigon's residents. Then step out of the big city and into the countryside with a cruise in the Mekong Delta. The boat ride takes you past villages where little has changed over the years and through beautiful natural scenery. Finish up with a few days of endless sunshine on the pristine beaches of Phan Thiet, where the world-class resort's luxuries will make for a relaxing end to the perfect vacation!

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing / Shanghai - Saigon

    Flight to Saigon and transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 2:
    Saigon (B)

    Sightseeing in Saigon and Cholon (Chinatown). The largest city and the economic center of Vietnam, Saigon hums with energy from morning to night. Its spacious boulevards, French villas, and cozy sidewalk cafes serving up coffee and baguettes gave the city another name, the “Paris of Asia.” Before the French arrived, China also had great influence here, as travelers can still see in Cholon, Saigon's Chinatown famous for its delicious food and overflowing markets. Yet Saigon also sits by the green rice paddies of the Mekong Delta, and one only has to walk its streets and explore its pagodas to feel the centuries of tradition.

  • Day 3:
    Saigon (B)

    Excursion to My Tho with a boat trip to the Mekong River islands.
    From Saigon, transfer to My Tho, a bustling town in the rich agricultural region of the Mekong Delta.
    Visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda, a temple and sanctuary for orphans and other needy children.
    Afterwards, board a local boat to explore the beautiful islands of the Mekong, with a rest at a fruit orchard to enjoy fruit and tea while listening to local music. The trip also includes a brief sampan ride through the tiny waterways weaving through the islands.

  • Day 4:
    Saigon - Phan Thiet (B)

    By vehicle from Saigon to Phan Thiet (no local guide). Just 198 kilometers from Saigon, Phan Thiet faces the warm turquoise ocean on the southernmost stretch of Central Vietnam. Many travelers love the opportunity to get away from the big city, relax on the golden sands of Mui Ne Beach, and see the local fishing industry in Phan Thiet's vibrant harbor, home to a large fleet of wooden ships. Once part of the Cham kingdom, Phan Thiet today still includes many ethnic Cham in its population.
