Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Colombo – Tangalle
    • Ayubowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka
    • Representative will meet you at the airport, then transfer to your hotel.
    • Rest of the day at leisure
    • Overnight in Tangalle
  • Day 2:
    Tangalle Beach stay (B) STAY UNTIL DAY 7

  • Day 7:
    Tangalle – Koggala – Kandy – Dambulla (B)
    • After breakfast proceed to Koggala, flight to Candy. You’ll get to see breath taking views from High in the air. This will be an amazing part of the journey.
    • Reach Kandy & travel to Sigiriya.
    • Climb the Sigiriya rock fortress.
    • This is a must see! After an ancient prince killed his father to claim the throne, he was forced to flee to his pleasure palace and convert it into a fortress to guard against his opposition. The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya built on a giant rock rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains below. Climb the 5th century Sigiriya Rock fortress that is a UNESCO world heritage site This remarkable 5th century archeological site is made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. A moat, rampart, extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock and the frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya.

  • Day 8:
    Dambulla (B)
    • Morning excursion to Polonnaruwa
    • Polonnaruwa is the 2nd capital of Sri Lanka. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries A.D, and is a world heritage site. Here you can see the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya (3 splendid statues of the Buddha in upright, sedentary and recumbent postures carved out of rock). The audience hall, the lotus bath, the Polonnaruwa statue (12th century) and the Parakrama Samudra tank (lake) built by king Parakramabahu the great.  There are also ruins of famous places of worship such as the Shiva temple, the Lankatileka, the Watadage, the Galpotha, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former temple of the tooth.
    • Experience a jeep safari at the Minneriya National park
    • Enjoy a Jeep Safari in the Minneriya National park, which boasts an unusually wide range of habitat types, from dry tropical forest to wetlands, grasslands and terrain previously used for slash-and-burn agriculture. For most visitors, the principal attraction here is elephants. Minneriya forms part of the elephant corridor which joins up with Kaudulla and Wasgomuwa national parks, and up to 200 of the beasts can be found here at certain times of year during their migrations between the various parks. Other mammals found in the park include Sambur, spotted deer, sloth bears and leopards, and there’s also a good chance of seeing macaque and purple-faced languor monkeys. In addition, an enormous number of birds have been spotted at Minneriya, including endemic species such as the Sri Lankan hanging parrot and the crimson-fronted barbet. Do remember to stay in the jeep, as the wild animals can be dangerous if you’re on foot!

  • Day 9:
    Dambulla (B)
    • Morning excursion to the sacred city of Anuradhapura
    • Visit the sacred Bo Tree, which is the world's oldest tree on record, and has been guarded by monks for over 2000 years. The tree is said to have sprung from a sapling of the tree that the Buddha himself meditated under in India. In addition to this there are many other historical and religious sites found in Anuradhapura.
    • For over 1000 years Sinhalese Kings with occasional South Indian interlopers ruled from the great city of Anuradhapura. It is the most extensive and important of the Sri Lankan ancient cities and today you’ll get to see it extensively. Anuradhapura was found in the 4th century BC and is famous for its Dagabas (Temples), Reservoirs, and beautifully landscaped gardens, the ruins of which still remain to this day.

  • Day 10:
    Dambulla – Kandy (B)
    • Proceed to Kandy. En route visit the Matale spice garden.
    • Spice up your life
    • Historians agree that Sri Lanka is the cradle of the ancient spice trade, and you’re in the very heart of it. The History of Sri Lanka and the History of Spice are interwoven to the extent that it leaves one to wonder whether Sri Lanka was discovered because of spice, or whether Spice was discovered because of Sri Lanka.
    • Visit a spice garden in Matale to see many different types of spices Sri Lanka is famous for. Just 25 km from the hill capital of Kandy, the Matale spice gardens are among the best on the island. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed.
    • Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
    • When King Wimaladharmasuriya I (1592-1604 A.D.) became King in Kandy, he searched for the Tooth Relic and the bowl Relic of the Buddha and found that it was kept at the Delgomuwa
    • Buddhist Temple at Kuruwita, for more than 44 years, hidden in a grinding stone.The King had gone there personally and brought the Sacred Tooth Relic to Kandy in a procession accompanied by the King.The first Temple of the Tooth Relic was constructed by Wimaladharmasooriya I to house it next to the Royal Palace.The Portuguese burned down the 2-floored building and King Wimaladharma sooriya II (1687-1707) erected a 3-storied building to house the Sacred Tooth Relic.It was burnt down once again and a new 2-storied building was constructed by King Narendra singhe (1707-1739 A.D.) and what we see today may be the building constructed by him.He also painted 32 Jataka Stories on the outer walls of the building.
    • In addition to the 3 daily “poojas” 4 annual festivals are held at the Temple of the Tooth Relic.in November in honour of God Vishnu.The last King of Kandy Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe added the Pattirippuwa or the Octagon and it was not a part of the Temple, but a resting place for the King. Later it was handed over to the Temple.

  • Day 11:
    Kandy – Negombo (B)
    • After the breakfast at the hotel proceed to Negombo.
    • En route visit the Peradeniya royal botanical garden.
    • 147 acres in extent; Started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Gampola and Kandy.  There are more than 5,000 species of trees, plants and creepers. Some rare and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world are found in the gardens.  Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists. There are 5 Palm Avenues beautifying the gardens, the earliest and tallest Palm Avenue (Royal Palm Avenue) was planted in 1905 and the Double Coconuts from the Seashells Island, with the largest seed of all plants in the world is one such avenue. 
    • Reach Negombo, check in to your lovely hotel & relax.

  • Day 12:
    Kandy – Colombo
    • Enjoy the breakfast at the hotel.
    • Transfer to the airport.
    • End of service.
