Travel content

As a former summer retreat for Qing emperors making use of Chengde’s cool mountain breezes, this ancient city still serves as the perfect locale for a break from rising temperatures and boasts a number of temples to complete the feeling of rest and relaxation. Ideal for a short break and reachable by train from Beijing in a matter of hours, make like an emperor and find yourself in the soothing climes of what was known as ‘escape the heat mountain villa’. Since 1703, these pleasant hills and parklands, pine forests, lake and pavilions have delighted travelers seeking the chance to wind down and take in both the mountain air and vistas of Chenge’s green surroundings.

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing - Chengde (L)
    • Morning train from Beijing to Chengde.(K7711 Beijing-Chengde 07:56- 12:31)
    • Meet our local guide at the train station and transfer to hotel.
    • After checking in, lunch at local restaurant.
    • In the afternoon, visit the Mountain Resort.
    • Transfer back to your hotel.
    • A dinner of your own arrangement.
    • Overnight in Chengde
  • Day 2:
    Chengde - Beijing (B, L)
    • After breakfast a chance to visit Puning Temple and Putuo Zongchengzhi Temple.
    • Lunch at a local restaurant.
    • Transfer back to Beijing by train in the afternoon.(Y514 Chengde-Beijing East Station 13:31-18:01)
    • Meet our driver at Beijing East Station and transfer back to your apartment.
