Travel content

Experience two different faces of China as well as reliving the Avatar adventure among the craggy stone pillars and lush forests in the natural preserve of Zhangjiajie that inspired film-makers to create the magical Floating Mountains of Pandora. Follow that up with the quaint streets and unique atmosphere of the ancient town of Fenghuang ("Phoenix"), a true gem of the Chinese south.

Travel Itinerary

  • Day 1:
    Beijing / Shanghai - Zhangjiajie

    Flight to Zhangjiajie in the evening.
    Transfer to the hotel.
    Overnight in Zhangjiajie

  • Day 2:
    Zhangjiajie - Mengdonghe - Fenghuang (B, L)

    After breakfast, drive to the Mengdong River with its clear rapids and waterfalls. You have time for exploration on foot or an exciting rafting tour.
    After lunch, travel to Fenghuang, an ancient town with traditional houses built right on the river's edge. Wander its picturesque flagstoned alleys, visit the Southern Great Wall, and admire the Hanging Houses at the Tuojiang River.

  • Day 3:
    Fenghuang - Zhangjiajie (B, L, D)

    In the morning you have leisure time to explore
    After lunch, drive to Zhangjiajie.
    Sightseeing in Zhangjiajie depends on the arrival time.
    Overnight in Zhangjiajie

  • Day 4:
    Zhangjiajie - Beijng / Shanghai (B, L)

    Breakfast at the hotel, followed by walking and sightseeing in Zhangjiajie.
    Visit Baizhang Gorge, Huanglong Cave, Tianzi Mountain, Helong Park, Goddess Peak, Heavenly Terrace and other impressive places.
    Transfer to the airport in the evening for the return flight.
