Travel content

Travel aboard China’s modern High Speed Rail network from the modern capital of Beijing, to its centre of international commerce in Shanghai via the birthplace of the nation itself in ancient Xian.  Before your arrival in cosmopolitan Shanghai and return flight, there’s opportunity to step out of the rush and sample the fantastic Longmen Grottoes of Luoyang and the home of Chinese Kung Fu at the Shaolin Temple in Zhengzhou.

Efficient, timely and with reliability at its core, China’s new breed of High Speed Rail ranks as one of the country’s most important modern achievements, moving tens of millions of people daily. The speeds easily contend with the fastest rolling stock in mainland Europe and rail safety is an issue of national importance. Swift boarding times, friendly service and a full range of refreshments and hot food available onboard, all mean High Speed Rail is an increasingly attractive alternative to flying when travelling inbound on the Chinese Mainland.

Within this tour there is the chance to see China, past present and future, with each of three featured cities being a serious contender for the must-see destination when visiting ‘The Middle Kingdom’. Xian, where the Chinese nation was founded, rich in history and weighted with significance in the story of the Chinese people. Beijing, the seat of government for today’s China where the country’s ancient history and modern advances sit side by side, and Shanghai, China’s most outward looking city and its international trading hub. Relax and enjoy the rolling landscape as you venture out and beyond the lines of China’s ancient roots, high speed present and progressive near-future.
