TUI China CEO: GBA will be an interesting destination for overseas tourists

Tuesday, September 19, 2023

"Guangdong area has always been the window to the world. I think it was one of the provinces that opened up first. Always, people from Guangdong are very adventurous and travel out in the world," said Dr. Guido Brettschneider, CEO of TUI China Travel Co., Ltd., at the 2023 Beijing Culture Forum on September 14.

As an affiliate of TUI Group, one of the world's leading tourism companies, TUI China has been acting as a bridge connecting China and overseas markets with travel in recent years. Brettschneider believes that culture and tourism help a lot in protecting communication among different civilizations. "When you go to a different country, you want to learn about the culture, right? And if you go there, you also bring your own ideas. So it's a good interaction."

Having visited Guangdong several times, Brettschneider was impressed by the food and dialect in Guangzhou, the economic development of Shenzhen, the Kaiping Diaolou and Villages in Jiangmen, and more.

A couple of weeks ago, Brettschneider talked with the Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Television, Radio and Tourism Bureau about the company's plan to bring foreign tourists to Guangdong province or the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In his opinion, it would be interesting for foreigners to experience the traditions of Guangzhou and see the fast development in Shenzhen. "If you come from Europe, you cannot imagine how quickly Shenzhen has developed from a small fishing town to one of the biggest and most dynamic cities in the world."
